Big thanks to Chris Kasper for his shout out in Root Down in the Shadow #PhillyPresents column!
"I've known him for a long time and he's always put out solid, understated records. I just heard the new stuff he's gearing up to release and it blew my mind. Everyone should keep an eye out." -- Click here for more. Check out Chris Kasper here!!! Johnny Miles & The Waywards new LP, Lost Treasure Found, is a blend of sweeping alt-country and retro folk-rock. Filled with melodic harmonies backed up by guitar, upright bass, pedal steel, and assorted strings – Lost Treasure is the band’s third release and certainly the most accomplished.
Although from Philadelphia, the sound is reminiscent, at times, of the 60s/70s Laurel Canyon folk. This set of songs will take you rambling right on into the spring... click here for more Yesterday, Johnny Miles And The Waywards officially kicked off this year’s XPoNential Music Festival, performing an opening set in the brisk 100-degree weather. Back in March—when we posted our Key Studio Session with the band—XPN2′s John Vettese said, “The South Philly/South Jersey six-piece evokes dusty travels and self-discovery in its music, which ranges from boisterous (love Carl Cheeseman’s lead guitar lick on ‘Hanging On To The Hoping’) to contemplative (keyboardist Nate Gonzales rocked an admirable accordion on the breathless ‘Sailors’).” Yesterday, the band needed no help in evoking images of parched travelers wandering along dusty roads; as far as self-discovery goes, well, hopefully they discovered the beer garden next to Marina Stage immediately after the set.
